Preventive medical health examination
The workforce determines the success of an organisation. With regard to the quality and continuity of an organisation, it is important to maintain its health status or, if so required, to improve it.
This can be done through Preventive Medical Health Examination (PMO), based on the following principles:
- prevention of professional diseases and work-related disorders among individual and groups of staff
- monitoring and improving the health of individuals and groups of staff at work
- monitoring and improving the performance and availability of staff
In addition to work-related risks, the examination also focuses on health, vitality and general well-being. The company medical officer informs the employer of the contents of the examination, after which the employer takes a decision.
A PMO is carried out under the responsibility of the company medical officer and is always tailor-made. The results of a PMO enable the employer to take measures to reduce those risks, if so required. Furthermore, a PMO is also useful for employees. They are made aware of the interaction between work and health and are given advice in terms of taking sensible action with regard to possible health issues and risks as a result of their work.
A PMO consists of a physical examination and a workload capacity & perception survey.
Physical examination
HumanCapitalCare is preventive identification of possible health risk factors and physical abnormalities by means of a physical examination. We distinguish between simple and extensive examinations which provide an insight in the health status, vitality and lifestyle of the employee. If so desired, we offer an MRI scan, CT scan and cardio programme.
Based on corporate and vocational characteristics, the company medical officer advises the manager on the compilation of the examination. Here a selection can be made from a number of modules with possible more in-depth analyses, depending on the personal work situation.
- Module 1 Biometrics
- Module 2 Urine test
- Module 3 Blood test
- Module 4 Heart test
- Module 5 Lung test
- Module 6 Physical examination
Based on the results, the employee is informed and advised to recognise possible risks and to actively focus on health and lifestyle.
Workload capacity & perception
The workload capacity & perception survey uses questionnaires that are compiled by managers, staff representatives and the company medical officer.
These questionnaires are modular in set-up and contain more in-depth analyses per module, depending on the work and private situation.
- Module 1 General health
- Module 2 Habits
- Module 3 Working conditions
- Module 4 Attitude and exercise
- Module 5 Work pressure and stress at work
- Module 6 Workload capacity (Work Ability Index)
Based on the results, the employee is informed by the company medical officer and advised to recognise and remove possible risks. He or she can be guided therein through programmes offered by HumanCapitalCare.
The results of the PMO, the recommendations and actions can be consulted through a secured Internet website, my-care, the employee’s personal health dossier. Individual programmes are compiled on the basis of the test results. In order to establish some change in behaviour in the majority of the cases, guidance by a personal health coach is provided for a period of 3 months or more.
A report at corporate and/or departmental level can be prepared for the manager on a population of at least 15 employees, making medical indications untraceable to individuals. This risk can be reduced for a company and/or department by means of HumanCapitalCare health-oriented programmes.
Following an initial health examination, repeats by means of brief periodic health examinations are recommended, during which focal points will be the problems identified earlier.
Do you want to find out more about PMOs or would you like to arrange for a PMO to be carried out? Please contact the project agency of your nearest regional office.

The company medical officer personally discusses the results of the PMO with the employee, provided there is a reason to do so.

my-care can only be accessed by the employee, and is secured by a personal login name and individual password.
